We just flew home this morning from a weekend in Arizona with family (I’m writing this on Sunday night) and it was so nice. I took a little social media breather and didn’t worry about any outfit photos or nonsense like that. I just focused on family time and enjoying the beautiful Arizona sun. It was a much needed break!
You guys know these ‘Favorites’ posts are so fun for me to do every month, are you enjoying them? If you missed them, you can check out November and December here. I love finding new things that make my life easier and sharing them with all of you. Let’s get to it!
My newest obsession, the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-RX100 V!
I’ve been on the hunt for a new point-and-shoot digital camera for a few months now. I have a GoPro 4, my phone, and my big Canon 70D DSLR camera, but I wanted something portable. Something I can just pull out really quick and snap great photos and videos with. I’m also interested in testing the waters of vlogging, but that’s a post for another day. I did a TON of research on what cameras were best, the price range I needed to be in, what features I would need… I could do a whole post on why I chose this camera but I will keep it short and just tell you I love it so far! It’s exactly what I was looking for and more. Let me know if you guys would like me to do an in-depth review of the camera and talk more about why I chose it, I find those kinds of things so helpful. I got my camera from Amazon and this case, it’s the perfect size.
Over Christmas I was talking to my Mom and she asked if I’d like a red handbag for Christmas (she must have noticed that I NEVER wear red) and I was telling her how I can’t really wear red because it clashes with my hair. Well let me take this opportunity to eat my words because not a week later I found this killer Kate Spade Cobble Hill Adrien bag on SALE in the most beautiful maroon, and I ordered it immediately. I feel like the color is neutral enough to go with so many things and the style is very classic. This striped version is on my wish list too…
I always try to include some recent skincare item that I’ve been using on my Monthly Favorites lists, and this month it’s something a little different. I’ve been using doTerra Frankincense essential oil to try to fade some acne scarring that really bothers me on my cheek. NOTHING I have used has done anything, but I heard that some people use Frankincense to fade acne scars, so I figured it couldn’t hurt since nothing else works at all. I had to check with my husband to see if I wasn’t crazy, but gosh dangit my scars are fading! I put the oil directly on my scars at night and most mornings, and they are fading slowly but surely. They are still there, I’m not saying it’s magic, but any fading to me is amazing and I will continue to use it and see what happens. More info on how Frankincense works HERE and HERE.
This seems weird, huh? A toothbrush, like come on Jackie SO boring! But NO YOU NEED IT. I used an electric toothbrush when I was young but somewhere along the way stopped. I’m prone to cavities, meaning I brush twice a day, floss, use mouthwash, and I will still get cavities. It’s a problem and after a recent dentist appointment, I made the purchase of an electric toothbrush. I LOVE IT SO MUCH. My mouth feels fresh from the dentist every time I brush. It’s so important to take care of your teeth, they’re the only ones you have. (K, I’ll stop being your Mom.)
You are probably aware that I’m a big fan of the Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation, and have been for years. Well now they’ve packaged it into these awesome cushion sticks that make it even more convenient to apply the foundation! I personally have two in my purse at all times to fix issues through the day. LOVE.
Well this is a different direction… food storage containers! 🙂 My hippie self has been getting concerned lately about plastic and specifically, heating food up in cheap plastic containers. I have a 9-5 day job and I like to meal prep my lunches. These involve heating food up in the container, and I decided I didn’t like doing that every day in the plastic. Who knows what is leaching into the food! So I invested in a set of glass, airtight containers. Not only will they last WAY longer, but I don’t have to worry about anything because they are glass. This is the set I got.
I mentioned a few weeks ago that I was joining the BBG community in starting fresh on Kayla’s 12 week bikini body guide. I did about 2 days and died from being too sore. I then re-started the 2nd week and we went out of town, totally throwing off my plans. I am again RE-STARTING the guide as of tomorrow (Monday 1/31) so if you ever feel like you struggle, I’m right along there with you. The BBG guide is on my Favorites list because I am determined this year to finally get in shape, even if it takes me a few tries first to get going… You can purchase the e-books, or she has an app that tells you what to do every day. They are easy to do at home (mostly) and only take 30 minutes a day. It’s the best workout program I have found so far that fits into my life, now if I can just stick to it!
Speaking of bikinis, I just got this bikini! Let’s call it motivation. Let’s also call it REALLY CUTE. It comes in a high waist bikini style or a one-piece, black, white and pink… pretty much any combo you might want. I got the black bikini top and bottom here, but I’ll link to the whole collection below.
I know I’ve talked about these ear buds a ton (HERE remember?) but I’ve been using them so much this month so they have to go on my January list. I believe my discount code for 15% off is still active too, making them such a steal (Jackie15). I use them when I do my Kayla guide and I LOVE not having cords to worry about and they sound excellent.
That’s all for now folks, but I hope these monthly favorites help you find some new things you love! Let me know what kinds of things you’d like to see next month.
