I recently traveled to California with a few friends and thought it would be fun to do a little travel diary! We did so many fun things and I had to share. Maybe you can find some fun stuff to do on your next trip to L.A.!
My friend’s Stacy, Kamrie, and I flew into Long Beach and our friend Joe picked us up from the airport. Joe is a VERY talented photographer, you can find his BEAUTIFUL instagram here. We flew into Long Beach but actually stayed with friends in Huntington Beach, so we did things all over the place from Huntington to L.A. to Anaheim for Disneyland.
We flew in on Saturday and immediately made a trip to Sancho’s Tacos in Huntington. It was overcast and drizzling rain, but we enjoyed our delicious tacos with a view of the beach. It was SO good and I highly recommend checking it out if you can!
Since it was rainy we went over to the Pacific City outdoor mall. It’s a great little mall and we got some gelato and did some shopping while the rain drizzled on. Great way to spend an afternoon!
Sunday morning we woke up and went to Grand Central Market in L.A for breakfast. It’s a great sort of warehouse kind of market with tons of places to eat and some shopping. It was packed on a Sunday and we were planning to eat at Eggslut, but the line was far too long so we went to Valerie Confections Bakery & Cafe. My sandwich was just okay, but the FRENCH TOAST was so good, I’d recommend getting that if you’re in the Market.
After the Grand Central Market we went down the street and took the Angels Flight funicular railway uphill. It was only $1 each and so fun, definitely worth it!
Once we got to the top we hopped the fence of a park to get to the 500 Days of Summer bench! I wouldn’t have known what it was so be honest, but my friends did and said we HAD to go sit on the bench. Especially because the park is going to be demolished soon. It makes me so sad because it’s a little oasis of green in the city, but someone of course wants to develop it. 🙁 If you want to hit the bench, go quick! But yes right now you do have to jump the small fence to get to it.
After the bench, we walked to the U.S. Bank Tower to go to the Skyslide on top of the building as well as the observation deck. It’s called OUE Skyspace Los Angeles. It’s $30 and you get to go up to the observation deck and walk around, and take a ride on the clear slide that goes outside the building in the open air! It’s a very short slide, but definitely a fun experience! The observation deck is totally worth the $$, the view is great even on a cloudy day like it was when we went.
There’s also cute wings painted on the glass at one end – of course – because it’s L.A.!
Go Stacey go!
Here is a link to my sweater, it comes in tall and regular and I LOVE the sleeves, plus it’s on sale!
After the skyslide we went over to the Millennium Biltmore Hotel because that’s where they filmed the hotel scene in the original Ghostbusters! The movie is set in New York, but the hotel they used is the Millennium Biltmore in L.A. I LOVE that movie so of course it was fun to see, but also it’s a very historic and beautiful hotel and you can see photos of classic actors and actresses at parties at the Biltmore in the 50’s. You can also walk there from the U.S. Bank building. (Parking in L.A. is terrible, so we wanted to park for a few hours and not worry about it, I think it was $10 for a whole day.)
Can you see the tiny Hollywood sign behind me?
After the lookout we found the most PERFECT palm tree lined street. I don’t have an exact address for it but you basically hit these streets near Beverly Hills when you pop out of the canyon on Mulholland drive. Photoshoot time thanks to Joe!

After our impromptu photoshoot we headed to The Getty.
I didn’t take photos of the art at the Getty other than on Insta stories, those are saved to my highlights if you’d like to go see! The Getty is a great art museum on a hill in L.A., so you get a great view there too if you don’t want to go to the lookout on Mulholland. You could easily spend 3 hours at the Getty, so take your time and enjoy the beautiful art.
After the Getty we went to West Hollywood for dinner at Pump. Now I’ve never watched the Vanderpump rules until this weekend when Joe had us watch an episode to know what the restaurant was all about. Fascinating show I tell ya! The restaurant was GORGEOUS too – the decor and the seating, my goodness. Not to mention the waiters! We realized our waiter was a male model with 87k followers on Instagram. Actually I’m pretty sure most of the waiters were models. The food was delicious too! We all liked our meals and really enjoyed it. I also loved that the portions were very good especially for the price.
After Pump we made our way to Catch LA for dessert. It is VERY high-end, but we had seen the videos of the #HitMeCake online and HAD to get one (okay TWO). First of all we ordered a shrimp ceviche for an appetizer, and it was the biggest letdown ever. I think it was like $25 and it was literally a few pieces of fruit and like 3 shrimps in a plate. I almost laughed. We finally got our 2 Hit Me cakes and luckily they were SO good! You can see us hitting them on my Insta Story too – they just melt instantly and it was so fun. Truly delicious too! Oh and celebs go there all the time, so keep a lookout if you go. (Migos was there when we went, although I don’t know who that is, my friend was excited!)
We had reservations for both restaurants too – so plan ahead!
Monday was our DISNEYLAND DAY!
YES I rock a fanny pack at Disneyland! I don’t have to worry about it getting stolen while I’m on a ride like a backpack, I can take it on rides because it’s small, and it carries everything I need. HERE is a link to my F21 sweatshirt I wore in the morning and at night when it got chilly.
Did you know there are Disney photographers all over the part at special photo points? If you get the MAXpass (which for $10 more you NEED TO) you scan a barcode and they send you the pics they take for you – high res professional shots! We got so many great photos from the great Disney photogs around the park.
I grabbed this shirt from ASOS and I love it for any day, not just Disney day!
That wraps up our Disneyland day!
Tuesday morning we were going to get breakfast at Bruxie’s in Huntington, but they didn’t open early enough so we got breakfast sandwiches at Sessions Sandwiches right on the beach and they were SOOO good! I’ll have to try Bruxie next time.
I hope this post gave you some fun ideas for your next trip to Huntington Beach or L.A.! If it did, pin the image below so you can come back to this post at any time. Leave a comment and tell me your favorite things to do in L.A.!
