Last night we got back from our amazing trip to Washington DC!
We left Wednesday afternoon and just had so much fun exploring and seeing the sights.
I had an AMAZING conversation with a woman from Afghanistan, we talked almost the entire second half of the flight. She told me all about her life, Afghanistan, DIY allergy and arthritis remedies. Her name was Igoolie and she is one of the reasons I love travelling, when else would I have had a chance to get to know an Afghani woman for 2 hours??
I sneakily snapped this picture as I was flying over Chicago, to the left is Lake Michigan and it was just amazing at night.
The water looked like velvet, not a boat in sight. I always make sure I have a window seat for just this reason, the views are incredible!!
On Thursday we woke up to go see some sights, and it just happened to also be my HUSBAND’S BIRTHDAY! Don’t worry, he looks better in my sunglasses than I do…
We went to the National Air and Space Museum Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center. I know, that name is crazy long. Basically it’s another air and space museum in Virginia that has some amazing things. For example, that’s where they keep the space shuttle Discovery and the Enola Gay.
I looooooved this airplane. All chrome and so shiny and with a more vintage style, it might’ve been my favorite.
Representin’ for the ladies.
This one might be hard to see, it’s a panorama of the observation tower at the Museum (you can probably enlarge it if you click on it). The views were crazy, it kept blowing my mind that there were no mountains really, just green green trees as far as you can see!
That night we went to a Washington Nationals game with some friends.
Here’s the thing, I thought the whole stadium was sponsored by Walgreens!! The W’s look exactly the same. You can’t tell me that’s not confusing.

And that pretty much wraps it up for Thursday! After the game on the way to the hotel we went on a hunt for Utz “Crab Chips” and Birch Beer for the hubs because he had them when he was on his mission and you can’t get them in Utah really.
We tracked down the chips and let me tell you… they’re gross!
I don’t know why “Crab Chips” would be good honestly, and I even like crab, but they mainly tasted like celery. Celery chips. Yeah…
We were exhausted and that was only day 1! We passed out at our hotel.
(We stayed here in case you’re needing a hotel in the DC area soon. It was fairly cheap and had a pretty good continental breakfast.)On Friday we went to downtown DC to see the essentials!
We explored the Smithsonian, the National and Natural History Museums, we saw the Washington Monument, the WW2 Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, Civil War Memorial and Korean War Memorial and even went to the Lincoln Memorial.
My feet will truly never be the same.
We ate lunch at Potbelly’s, which we don’t have here in Utah and I am SO sad we don’t.
We LOVED it.
Delicious hot sandwiches, Oreo milkshakes, mmmmmm.
You east coast people are lucky!

I’m obsessed with sharks. I saw this across the room and grabbed the hubs arm and said “MEGALODON!!” because they were this ginormous amazing prehistoric shark and I got to take a picture with it’s JAWS. :))) Big day for me obviously.
On Saturday we went to the National ZOO!
We saw amazing birds, tigers, lions, elephants, pretty much all kinds of creatures.
The people watching was almost as fascinating, I’ve never seen so many bare stomachs on women in public in my life!
Again, my feet will forever be changed by this trip but it was worth it.
Sunday was our last day in DC.
We had just enough time before our flights left to go see the Holocaust Muesum, get some more Potbelly’s for lunch, and take some pictures at the Capitol building.
We had SUCH a blast exploring the city, it’s such a unique area. You can be in the suburbs in Crystal City and then 5 minutes later you’re in the heart of downtown DC.
We loved our whirlwind of a trip.
