By now I’m sure you’re familiar with the ever-popular lip color ‘Heroine’ by MAC. If not, you should be! Especially with fall and winter coming up, this color is a serious go-to. A sort of berry purple, I find it looks good on SO many people (especially us tricky redheads!)
Well what if I told you I found a super similar color at my local drugstore for half the price?!
Yep, I did.
It is the Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in ‘Shameless’ (215). In these pictures I layered it on pretty heavy, but if you just do a light layer you can hardly tell the difference between the two colors! I actually prefer the texture of the Revlon balm too because it is so light and easy to put on with the pointed tip. I also really like to layer the two colors because I find I like the texture a lot, I do ‘Heroine’ first and then top it off with ‘Shameless’, I think it even lasts longer than just one or the other alone!
Nobody will ever know the difference.

It is definitely very similar. Heroine is somehow brighter though..which is funny, never thought I’d consider Heroine brighter haha.
I’m curious if Revlon modeled at least SOME of the matte balms after MAC classics. Standout is very close to Russian Red.

I did layer the Revlon version on super thick too, so it’s looking darker but Heroine is indeed a teeny bit brighter! That’s why I like layering them, I get the texture of the Revlon version and the color of both! Thanks Kelly!
