I’ve noticed more than a few new and upcoming denim trends lately. This is exciting but can also be overwhelming if you’re not sure where to start with styling them! I snagged all of these denim styles from Old Navy, and can I just say the fit and fabrics have been ON POINT lately?! I loved every pair I got, and even went back and had to get the high-waisted jeans and overalls in the other wash they were offered in!
Let’s talk about some tips for wearing these increasingly popular denim styles:
This is probably the most intimidating style of the bunch. You might look at these and say, “Nope, not for me!” But don’t write them off so quickly! With the right fabric, wash, and fit – anyone can rock ‘em. I’ve re-discovered my love for high-waisted denim because they just keep everything tucked IN all day! I never feel uncomfortable because my love handles are bulging, or my undies are showing because my shirt is too short… you know what I’m saying. These High-Rise Rockstar Built-In Sculpt Skinny Jeans actually SCULPT!
I find that a blousey, more loose top balances out the look when going high-waist. The slimming of the waist is really flattering because it nips in at the waist, and then the top conceals everything else. Think a peasant top like this cute floral option!
Okay go ahead and stop reading this post – click HERE – and add these patchwork jeans to your friggin’ Old Navy cart. Then come back and continue reading… New favorite jeans right here! The perfect amount of stretch, but so fun with the patchwork design. They say they’re boyfriend jeans but I sized down because I liked the look better, but totally up to you! When trying out the patchwork style, go all-out with the boho look and try a cute embroidered top like this. Keep it casual with a messenger bag and comfy slides.
Overalls are kind of my new favorite. I’ve worn them here, here, and waaaaaay back in 2013 here- and have no intention of stopping anytime soon. You might feel like they are intimidating to wear or that you’ll look like a farmer – I promise you won’t! You can go as simple as a plain grey t-shirt with a cute printed scarf and sandals. Or try a collared button up shirt underneath and it elevates the whole look! If you’re not so sure about it, try adding a vest or army jacket on top so it’s not so obvious they’re overalls, and you’ll be surprised how easily you adapt and even start to love them.
I hope these tips help you see how to wear these new denim trends!
You know my love for Old Navy is never-ending, thanks so much to them for sponsoring this post.
