How to Apply LipSense the RIGHT Way

May 8, 2017

Now - you probably know I am a very BUSY girl. I have a bunch of jobs, between my burgeoning Real Estate career, my day job in marketing at a nutritional supplement company, this here blog, and oh I dunno - nurturing my marriage. 🙂 Because of that I feel like I’ve become pretty good at getting ready and doing my makeup in a hurry. I HAVE to get out of the house in the morning on time, but I still want to feel confident and pretty. There are tons of tips and tricks I’ve learned to getting this feat done, and I want to share them with all of you! Introducing BUSY GIRL BEAUTY.

Along with this I’m also SO excited to finally announce that I am now a Senegence LipSense distributor! I assume you’ve heard of LipSense by now, but if not we’ll get into that later in this post…

I’ve been toying around with the idea of becoming a distributor for about a year and finally decided to get off the sidelines and dive in. You probably don’t know this, but I’ve been an avid LipSense user for over a year now. It’s the lipstick I ALWAYS go back to. I’d occasionally wear other lipsticks and glosses but I came to the conclusion I’m just not made for it. I usually forget I’m wearing it and get a big red stain on my clothing, or it’s all over my face as soon as I eat lunch. It’s just a disaster and I was so tired of the drama of trying to wear regular lipstick. My troubles are officially OVER!

I envision Busy Girl Beauty as a resource for us women to share our best tips, ask questions, and in general help other busy girls like ourselves feel confident and beautiful every day. This is also where I’ll post updates on my available LipSense colors, and any giveaways, contests, or sales I’m doing (there just might be a Mother’s Day sale coming today!). This is so much more than your typical LipSense business though. Even if you’re not interested in LipSense at all, I hope you’ll join for the community, and the hair, makeup, and skincare tips we’ll be sharing. Don’t forget to also follow along on Instagram!

Now, let’s talk about the RIGHT way to apply LipSense! I’ve learned that this method makes my color last the longest and looks the best.

Step 1: Apply Oops Remover all over lips and rub together. This cleans your lips and removes any residue.

Step 2: Take a wash cloth and get it wet with warm water. Rub the Oops Remover off and scrub a little bit to exfoliate lips and prep them for the color.

Step 3: Make sure lips are DRY before applying! Stretch lips out just a little. I like to think I look like a gaping fish at this stage, but part lips and stretch them out just a bit so they’re smooth and wrinkle free. Apply 1 coat of color across bottom lip and then top lip in ONE motion, don’t go back and forth or the color will come off, kind of like a dry erase marker when you try to draw over a line you just drew. Get more color on the brush if you need to to cover both lips.

Step 4: WAIT for the 1st layer to dry, about 10-15 seconds. I like to fan them with a piece of cardboard, or in a pinch, my hand. 🙂

Steps 5-6: Apply 2 more coats of color, exactly like you just did. Apply thin layers covering all parts of the lip including the inner corners of lips. Wait 10-15 seconds after each coat for them to FULLY dry. Avoid touching lips together as they will be tacky.

Step 7: Apply Gloss all over lips. Cover every little bit of color or you’ll find them sticking together. Get those corners of your lips too! The gloss seals the color and makes it last. I’m using Glossy Gloss here but there are other fun glosses that add sheen, shimmer, and even a matte gloss that I’ve been using lately because I love the look of a matte lip. I’ve got some other fun glosses coming in stock soon, you can see what I have in stock and on order here!

Step 8: GENTLY blot lips together. With LipSense you don’t RUB lips together like you do when you put on regular lipstick. That can make the color come off quicker. You apply your gloss and then just blot lips together gently to disperse it. This was unusual to me at first but you’ll get used to it quick!

DONE! This process is a lot quicker than this tutorial made it seem, I promise!

(I’m wearing ‘Mulled Wine’ in these pics.)

If you’ve never used LipSense before I suggest starting with a lighter color, like a pretty nude or pink like Apple Cider, Roseberry, or Sassy Z. That way you can get the hang of applying it. Dark colors like the one I’m wearing (Mulled Wine) can be trickier so if you’re worried, no problem! I offer 4 different “starter kits” for those who haven’t yet tried LipSense. You’ll NEED the Oops Remover and a gloss, so you need a starter kit before anything else. A great option would be the Luxe Collection because it comes with 2 colors, so you can get a darker option and an everyday light option. You can see all of the collections here.

If you’re not sure what color to start with, then just send me an Insta DM or a FB message! OR even better, post a selfie to the Busy Girl Beauty Facebook group and I’ll help you there.

Now, if you’ve been hiding under a rock and you’re not sure what LipSense is - it’s a liquid lip color that is waterproof, kiss proof, won’t rub off and won’t smudge or smear. Am I making this crystal clear? It. Does. Not. Move. I’ve eaten a full on cheeseburger and right after, my lipstick still looks great. That right there was enough to convince me, this is a lipstick made for me. 🙂

If you have any questions, leave them here or on the Busy Girl Beauty Facebook group!

xoxo
