I’m so excited to finally reveal Isla’s nursery!
I’d like to start off by saying I am NOT an interior design person. Never have been. I truly struggle figuring out what will look good in a room, and what I like. Despite this, I try and do my best. That’s really the only way to get better at something - trial and error! It has taken me months and months to figure out how I wanted her room to look. Finally - it’s done! (Ok I’m still looking for a few things… why is it so impossible to find a beige laundry hamper with a lid?! We also need lots more photos on the walls of course.)
This room will also evolve as Isla gets older of course, but for now I just LOVE how it turned out!
(Links to everything in her room will be at the end of the post.)
When we were trying to figure out what to do about a baby monitor I asked you guys on Insta stories what you recommend. So many people said the Wyze Cam so that’s what we got - and we’ve loved it! We can peek in on her at any time, tilt and adjust the camera as needed, talk through it, and record photos and videos, AND it’s pretty inexpensive! ($37) It has a cable that plugs into the wall that I unplugged for the photos, but we’re planning on running it back through the wall anyways.
That’s how I get great photos like this - arm out of the crib fully asleep. 🙂 I highly recommend the Wyze, we’ve loved it!
This bookshelf has been so handy for the random things we use every day. Her sound machine is at just the right spot for us to easily turn it on and off for naps and at night, and these great bins from Amazon hide the odds and ends we need to store, like crib sheets, extra toys, and bows and accessories.
The pink globe is from Hobby Lobby and the photo frames are from Home Goods. No links, sorry!
And this isn’t sponsored but we love the Noddle & Boo baby lotion. I ran out of the one I got from a baby shower and immediately purchased more. The ingredients are safe and it smells heavenly!
Do you recognize this poster from THIS instagram post?! I finally got it hung and I love how it looks in the room!
This rocking chair holds a lot of meaning. It has been in my family for years, my Mom rocked my little brother in it and he is now 19 years old. 🙂 It also has a rocking ottoman but I never use it so it’s in storage. I’m big on rocking - Isla and I have spent many hours since we brought her home either feeding her or rocking her to sleep in this chair! (Blanket is from Home Goods.)
You guys THIS RUG. I hunted and searched for the perfect rug to tie the room together. When I found it of COURSE it was sold out, so I waited and waited and the second I got the re-stock email (thanks Wayfair!) I rushed to buy it. It has a 4.8 rating and over 1,500 reviews so I figured it was a winner, and it IS. I got the 5′ x 7.6′ size. Everyone who sees it loves this rug. I can’t say enough great things about it! (Not sponsored, but I wish it was! Wink wink Wayfair…)
Now for the focal point of the room - Isla’s beautiful roses! I’ve always wanted some beautiful decals or wallpaper in her room since we decided to buy a house, so I started looking for the perfect design. I found these Briar Rose Decals from Urban Walls and stopped looking. They were perfect!
Roses hold sentimental meaning for me because they remind me of my Grandma Bernice. She loved roses and would always diligently prune and care for the roses lining her driveway - and they were gorgeous. I was lucky enough to get to be with Grandma when she passed away a couple years ago. On the day she passed away I hadn’t told her I was pregnant yet with Isla, so I rushed to her bedside and told her and showed her the ultrasound. At this point she was pretty out of it and hadn’t been responding much, but I swear to you she smiled and started making noises and I knew she heard me, and she was SO excited.
I also think Isla and her Great Grandma Bernice have a special connection. When she was a couple months old I took her to my aunt’s house to see family. We laid her on the floor and there happened to be a photo of my grandma right at her eye level. She zoned in on that photo and stared at it for a good 60 seconds, I’d never seen anything hold her attention like that ever. She smiled and we knew, oh! She recognizes grandma from heaven! I can’t even type out that story without getting emotional. So now you know why the second I saw these roses, I knew they’d be perfect!
The application process wasn’t hard at all! The decals arrive on long sticker sheets. You cut them out so you can easily plan where to place them on the walls, and then use painters tape to plan out your design. I put all the roses on the wall where I thought I wanted them, and then took them all down because I didn’t like how it turned out. My 2nd try was MUCH better. That first attempt was so helpful though so I could see what I liked, and what I needed to change to make it come together! I definitely recommend taping up your design how you think you want it and then stepping back and taking photos so you can really process what it will look like before committing.
Once I decided on the final placement, I recruited my husband and some sturdy pieces of cardboard to help us eliminate air bubbles in the decals, and we got to work applying them to the wall! I did this on a day when Isla was at her Grandma’s, so I could focus on where I wanted to place everything and then get them applied without worrying about Isla’s nap schedule.
I LOVE how the design turned out, and I’m so glad we went with Urban Walls. The quality is so great and I know these decals will look perfect for years to come!
(*Thank you to Urban Walls for sending me the Briar Rose decals! The product was gifted but all opinions are my own.)
Here are links to everything! Let me know if I missed anything and thanks for stopping by.

November 6, 2019 at 5:15 pmBeautiful! Great job. I struggle with interior design, too. But it came together so well. And I love that story of Isla and your grandma! Those are the memories that carry us through. You must be so relieved, too, that its all done! 🙂
